Elio Kayaks is born on 1979 from a great passion for canoeing competition. We started the production of competition kayaks with the goal of creating conditions for the athletes to have effective equipment at low prices.
In this beginning the sales were mainly to Portugal and Galicia (Spain). With the development of quality, technology and design, the first exports appeared a decade later, in 1989, first to Denmark, followed by many other European countries.
In 1993 we start working with honeycomb with vacuum, the more emblematic construction of Elio brand.
In 2007 at Duisburg, the k1 Sprint 75 and 85 and the K2 Sprint were recognized by the ICF as suitable for international competitions.
We have supported the International Marathon Crestuma since 1983, providing boats to national and international athletes and teams.
We also support a large number of athletes and clubs in various ways, because the passion that moves us remains the same: canoeing.
Elio Objectives:
We design, test and produce boats and equipment top of the range. The long experience of building and knowledge acquired enable us to build more advanced boats in lines and technology, seek perfection on detail, optimizing factors allowing a perfectly comfortable and solidarity between the athlete and the boat.
We created kayaks and canoes that remain stable without jumping on the water, and without creating too much friction or waves, factors that spends the energy needed to make the boat move faster.
We want to maintain close contact with athletes, coaches and users to point our production for competitive results, to meet needs and create cutting edge equipment. We make all the efforts to be on the front wave on design and use of new materials more resistant and lightweight.
During the year of 2006 we launched the kayak polo ENIGMA, in the versions Alpha, Mega and Omega.
In May we presented to Portuguese clubs the beginners kayak PENGUIN, in June we launched the new sea kayaks NEON, on Solo and Duo versions.
In October we presented on the World Cup of Surf Kayak in Peniche the SPEEDY - which caused some astonishment among paddlers for his lightweight - only 5.6 kg.
In November it was time to put on the water the new TITAN, a kayak for the young athletes, an extremely competitive K1 that is having great approval among clubs.
In 2005 we set up five more new models: the K1 and K2 SPRINT, the hybrid master / competition K1 DOLPHIN and the sea kayak ALBATROZ, on Solo and Duo versions, in honour to this kind of sea bird, which is in process of extinction.
In 2003 and 2004, always aiming the full satisfaction of athletes, we put on the market two new competition kayaks, with excellent performances: the ZEUS and the F16.
In 2001 Seville saw the birth of a new canoe, the C1 NEPTUNO, which is distinguished by having a large acceptance, result of its brilliant benefits. In the Spanish league, the national champion, six of the nine athletes with medals used the C1 Neptune.
Presently we do the international competition circuit showing of products. This year we were in the Europe championship, the world flatwater race championship, the Marathon worlds and some world cups.
We also have partnerships with universities and contributed to implementation and transfer of technology in projects in the following areas of research:

Elio main results in competition:
1995 - Victory in the 1st European Championship Marathon, in Senior K2;
2000 - First medal in the World Marathon Championships in Senior K2;
2002 - Czech Team gets a victory in a Marathon World Cup in Denmark with K2 Zeus, a model developed by Elio;
2005 - First victory in sea kayak races in Portugal;
2007 - Victory in all categories except C1 senior and C2 junior, in the National Marathon Championship;
2007 - The K2 Albatroz was the winner of the National sea kayaking Championship.
